“All my life I have lived and behaved very much like a sandpiper,
just running down the edges of different countries and continents,
looking for something.”
I am re-opening "The Sandpiper" bed-and-breakfast that my late wife operated for several years. A two-room suite . . . private entry . . . meditation garden . . . steps from a private Cape Cod Bay beach and tennis court.
The Sandpiper is tucked into a wooded dune in the tranquil, Outer Cape town of Truro—between Wellfleet and Provincetown. Accommodations include a two-room suite with a private entry, a full bath with shower, and a separate powder room. The bedroom is furnished with a classic, fruitwood Queen bed and mirrored dresser, while the parlor room has a pullout sofa and a twin sleigh bed.
Both rooms open onto a secluded meditation garden enclosed in a bower of pines, heather, sweet fern, lily of the valley, and flowering Japanese cherry. The focal point of the garden is a floating-sphere fountain custom-cast in concrete by a Wellfleet sculptor, who also created the distinctive Heaven's Gate sculpture that graces the entrance to the property.
The Sandpiper offers a meditative, Zen-like environment that is in itself a work of art. You will enjoy homemade buffet breakfasts on a centuries-old Chinese dining table. There is an extensive collection of Inuit sculpture, and paintings by renowned Provincetown artists. Tiered decks, where you can barbecue and picnic, look down on three cascading ponds that are linked by waterfalls. The ponds are home to dozens of exotic fish.
A four-minute walk takes you to a private Cape Cod Bay beach and a beautifully maintained community tennis court. Coolers, beach chairs and towels are yours to use.
For nature lovers, the Cape Cod National Seashore makes up seventy percent of Truro. In addition to the Bay and Atlantic beaches, lakes and ponds abound. The famous Cape Cod Rail Trail provides more than twenty-five miles of unexcelled bicycling opportunities. There are numerous hiking trails and historical and ecological interests in the area, along with antique shops, art galleries, concerts and theater, casual and fine dining, night life, dune tours, and the Truro Vineyards Winery.
The rate for The Sandpiper suite is $249 all-inclusive, with a three-night minimum stay. A fifty percent deposit is required when you book. Details and more photos are at: https://www.bedandbreakfast.com/truro-massachusetts.html

As soon as I woke up on the first morning I knew we were in the right place!! It was such a beautiful home and garden. The peace and quiet and the comforts were great. After the early morning swim and my cup of tea, we enjoyed your tasty breakfast. Stephen was most impressed. It was just magic. Your input on where to go on the Cape was a help for us Aussie tourists. After the long day it was relaxing to sit on your deck for a quiet drink, to listen to the frogs and birds and just talk to each other about our day. Your garden was most inspiring -- a credit to you.

Staying at The Sandpiper made for a perfect Cape Cod vacation. Your hospitality is unmatched, your breakfasts delicious, the room was a delight, even the towels were so soft and plush. We loved it here! The setting is beautiful as is everything about your home.
